As was mentioned in the Introduction, Dr. Franklin is a highly accomplished therapist, with many years of especially diverse professional experiences. He spent several years in the USAF, working as a clinical social worker, where he excelled in a variety of treatment settings. Specifically, David was a clinical provider and treatment team leader on an inpatient psychiatric unit. He also gained experience working as a clinical provider on the Air Force's largest inpatient alcohol rehabilitation center and has been the Director of Family Advocacy (which is a military program designed to treat and stop child and spousal neglect and abuse). In addition, Dr. Franklin has worked with families who have a disabled family member, as an outpatient mental health clinician, as a hostage negotiator consultant, as the program manager for a base wide suicide prevention program, as an outpatient substance abuse diagnostic evaluator, and worked as a clinical adviser for an outpatient smoking cessation program. He is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and was listed as an Emergency Responder while in the USAF. Dr. Franklin is an approved clinical supervisor in the state of Texas. David Franklin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest Texas State University, a Master of Science of degree from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The University of Texas at Austin. His dissertation research was innovative for not only the profession of social work, but for all professions. Specifically, he developed a way to measure a mental health clinician's ethical competence. Because of his groundbreaking work, David is one of the foremost experts in the area of ethics and ethical competence.

He also hold numerous, prestigious credentials, such as the Diplomate rating from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and board certification in Domestic Violence. In addition, David possesses a Diplomate rating in Clinical Social Work from The National Association of Social Workers
